Hangars and Facilities:

New Hangars:   As at Aug 2010 there are five hangars at Parakai Airfield, the Leading Edge Aviation engineering hangar, and four privately owned storage hangars. Phone Simon Lockie on '0800 FlyWest' for information on hagar space and building of private hangars.

Hangarage and Permanent Parking: Space for aircraft is sometimes available in existing hangars. Outside tie-downs are always available for short or long stay aircraft parking.

Five Aircraft available for hire:   (Prices include gst).

- Tecnam P92 Echo Super, ZK-CDL, $135 solo or $165 dual (fly on PPL or Microlight licence);

- Tecnam Echo, ZK-PAB, (PPL or ML) $135 solo or $165 dual.

- Cessna 150 Aerobat, ZK-TWT, (PPL) $150 solo or $180 dual.

- 2 x Cessna 152s, ZK-TUT and ZK-MDS, ring for rates.

Parakai Taxiway and Aprons, 2008.

Fuel: Aviation Fuel 110 octane, Racing fuel 100 octane, and Mogas Premium Unleaded, payable by EFTPoS or credit card. No oil company swipe cards yet. Oil for Continental / Lycoming engines, and the Shell oil specifically blended Rotax 912 engines. Available most business hours and often at weekends, but sometimes we're all off flying so ring Simon Lockie on '0800 FlyWest' if refueling is going to be critical to continuing a flight.

Pilot Shop at the Office... Maps, Nav protractors and EC6B slide rules, Headsets, Rotax oil and spark plugs, Log books, SAC full text book for licence theory, Tee shirts, Hats etc.

Clubrooms & Office : Coffee, Tea, Cold drinks, Toilets, Showers, Flight Planning/Briefing room, Children's playground. Drop-in visitors welcome.

Available at Blue Skies Skydiving building: Cold Drinks, Snacks/Pies, Icecreams.

Accomodation: Locally available at various levels; B&B, Motel, backpackers etc, nearby in Parakai and Helensville or 37 mts away in Auckland or the North Shore. Plus a bunkhouse on the airfield.

Transport: Rental cars arranged. Airfield courtesy car available for visiting aviators by arrangement. 37mts to Auckland CBD; 30 mts Albany, 24 mts Silverdale.

Maintenance: Leading Edge Aviation Ltd (Bryn Lockie, L.A.M.E. and I.A.) based on the airfield to service Certified and Sports Aircraft. Metal or composite airframes. Leading Edge Ph 021 681-900.

Flight Training: Introductory Flights and Flight Training for Recreational pilots in a Tecnam Echo and Echo Super aircraft. PPL and Aerobatic training in a Cessna 150 Aerobat and 2 x Cessna 152s.

Flight Theory Lectures: Lecture sessions are held regularly, usually in the evening on Tues-Wed-Thurs, and a particular subject may take from one to six evenings to cover depending on the size of the subject.

Flight Theory Exams: PPL Exams are held at regular intervals at Parakai Airfield and need to be booked one week in advance for ASL to perpare papers etc. Microlight exams can be sat at any time by arrangement. Exams are available to all, whether or not they have attended the theory lectures or done flight training at Parakai.

Flight Test and BFR: For PPL or ML are able to be taken at Parakai Airfield.
